Silvia Casa Nova is a full professor at the Accounting and Actuarial Science Department of the School of Economics, Business and Accounting, at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and a faculty member of the Master's Program in Accounting Sciences at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), both in Brazil. She had been a visiting researcher at the École de Comptabilité, of Université Laval. She is an associate editor of Education Accounting: an International Journal, a member of the Scientific Editorial Board of RAE - Revista de Administração de Empresas (FGV/EAESP), RAUSP, Organizações & Sociedade (Federal University of Bahia - UFBA), and Revista Activos (Universidad Santo Tomas). She defended her habilitation thesis in Accounting Education at USP. She was a visiting researcher at the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD), the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) of the University of Minnesota (UMN), with a scholarship from CAPES, and the Business Research Unit of the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), with financial support from PRPG/USP. She participated in a research period at the College of Education + Human Development of the University of Minnesota, with financial support from PRPG/USP. She is co-organizer of the book series Revolucionando, by Editora Gen/Atlas, and of the book TCC: uma Abordagem leve, divertida e prática, by Editora Saraiva. She has published in national journals (such as Revista de Contabilidade & Finanças, Revista de Administração de Empresas, Revista de Administração Contemporânea) and in international journals (Studies in Educational Evaluation, International Journal of Organizational Analysis and Advances in Public Interest Accounting). She has chapters in international books edited by Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge and IGI Global. She graduated in Public Administration from the School of Business Administration of Fundação Getúlio Vargas. She completed her master's and doctoral degrees in Controllership and Accounting at the School of Economics, Business and Accounting of the University of São Paulo (FEAUSP). She has a Post-Doctorate from EAESP/FGVSP. She serves as a peer reviewer in conferences and journals, and teaches since 1992. She is co-founder and co-manager of the FEA Research Group in Gender, Race and Sexuality (Generas). She has collaborated with the graduate programs of UFPR, FURB, UFU and UFMS (in Brazil), ISCTE (in Portugal), and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, in Teaching Methodology and Qualitative Research Methods courses. She is the mother of José, Isabela and Gabriela. She is an admirer and collector of cachaças. Her areas of experience and interest are: entrepreneurship, gender in higher education, feminism, gender in accounting, accounting education, teaching accounting, teaching in higher education, financial management and accounting for SMEs.
